The article analyzes the transformation of the ISSN system, the progression of which is reflected in seven editions of the international ISSN standard — ISO 3297:2022 Information and documentation — International standard serial number (ISSN). It highlights issues regarding the application in Ukraine of the English-language standard DSTU ISO 3297:2018 (ISO 3297:2017, IDT) Information and documentation — International standard serial number (ISSN). The stages of developing the Ukrainian-language standard DSTU ISO 3297:____ (ISO 3297:2022, IDT) Information and documentation — International standard serial number (ISSN) — intended to replace DSTU ISO 3297:2018 — by the Book Chamber of Ukraine are also examined.
