Elastic Scattering Cross Section of 10 B Projectile on Light, Medium and Heavy Targets Using Different Effective Interactions

The present work is a comprehensive and systematic investigation of the elastic scattering of the weakly bound projectile 10 B from a broad range of light, medium, and heavy target nuclei over several incident energies within the double-folding framework. The real and imaginary components of the nuclear optical potential are constructed using the M3Y, R3Y, and B3Y-Fetal effective nucleon-nucleon interactions combined with nuclear density distributions obtained from the two-parameter Fermi (2pF) and relativistic mean-field (RMF) models. The calculated elastic-scattering angular distributions are compared with available experimental data to assess the predictive capabilities of the different interactions and density parametrizations. The calculated angular distributions generally reproduce the main features of the measured elastic-scattering cross sections, although the quality of agreement varies among the investigated systems and incident energies. Among the interactions considered, the B3Y-Fetal interaction generally provides the best overall agreement with the experimental data with calculations employing RMF densities using the NL2 parameter set, while the phenomenological 2pF densities show comparatively weaker performance in several cases. Based on these findings, empirical relations are proposed to predict suitable N R and N I values for elastic-scattering analyses involving 10 B projectiles. Beyond the description of individual systems, the present study establishes global trends in the optical-model parameters and their dependence on target mass and incident energy, thereby providing a unified framework for understanding the reaction dynamics of the weakly bound nucleus 10 B.
