Petroleum Systems Analysis of the Guyana–Suriname Basin with the GLIAG methodology

This paper formalises the GLIAG method for petroleum-systems analysis as applied in the author's dated Guyana–Suriname Basin essays since 13 July 2026, and amends Revision 1.0 (Dutch, 30 October 2026). The method combines bottom-up geological reconstruction with top-down testing against published rock, well and fluid observations, and keeps provenance, spatial scale, time window and evidence class attached to every number. It rests on the foundational petroleum-system, biomarker, basin-modelling and kinetic literature; the original contribution is basin-specific: a cross-border evidence base, transfer rules between evidence classes, and a ledger that forces model volumes to declare what they measure. The analysis treats the Guyana–Suriname Basin as one province. The GLIAG GSB Intelligence Platform (GIP) holds the Guyana Ministry of Natural Resources and Staatsolie registers in a single EPSG:4326 frame: 159 official wellheads and 72 licence polygons across both jurisdictions, with surveyed wellheads, field centres and model points kept as separate object types. Register data, model modules, Basin Watch news intake, newsletters and essays are held in one platform and cross-checked against one another, each item tagged with its source and evidence status; the self-audit in this paper is a product of that integrated loop. Three applications are re-examined: the Aptian–Albian source architecture; the legacy Galibi Offshore-1 well in Block 15 (Elf, 1971, TD 4,663 m) as a test of which petroleum-system link failed; and mass-transport loading, where first-order consolidation and conduction solutions separate an immediate pressure clock from a delayed thermal clock. An audit of the author's own volumes shows that the 1,455 Bboe SE Golden Lane cascade figure is an Ultimate Expellable Potential at full conversion rather than realised generation, that three GLIAG generation totals (1,455; 1,307; about 190 Bboe) cannot belong to one mass balance, and that the 73.3 Bboe cascade output must be relabelled an unrisked scenario ceiling against the USGS 2025 province mean of about 11.7 Bboe. Using the realised kitchen density of 5.6 MMboe/km² gives about 6.2 Bboe (illustrative). A cited model grid is flagged as inconsistent, and a KBD-3 wellhead coordinate from the Block 58 environmental record (7.224882° N, 55.854204° W) illustrates location discipline. A GIP basin map (Rev 0.22.110, 24 October 2026), seven original diagrams, a fifteen-item amendment register and a limitations table are included. Analytical volumes only; not reserves or resources under SPE-PRMS (as of 30 October 2026). Text and data mining reserved under Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790.
