Subtle Angioid Streaks Point to Underlying Paget’s Disease
Paget’s disease of the bone (PDB) is a chronic and progressive abnormal remodeling of bones throughout the body and can result in several complications, including deafness and potential paraplegia. Fifty percent of patients with the ocular finding of angioid streaks within the retina are found to have an associated systemic condition, with PDB being one of them.1 This case review highlights the clinical findings of angioid streaks, as well as the necessary laboratory testing, imaging, and referrals required for the detection and management of PDB.
