Vet Record achieves highest‐ever impact factor

Vet Record has achieved an amended impact factor of 2.8 and is currently ranked 24th out of 171 journals in the veterinary science category. This is its highest-ever impact factor and beats a previous high of 2.4, awarded in 2019. In June, the journal was initially assigned an impact factor of 0.9 for 2025; however, errors were identified in how it was calculated, requiring a reanalysis and appeal. The impact factor, which is released by Clarivate Analytics, measures the average number of citations to articles divided by the number of articles published during a two-year period, and is regarded by many authors as the most important factor when they are considering where to submit their work for publication. Although impact factor is an important measure of journal performance, Vet Record also performs well in terms of reallife impact, as the research it publishes is more likely to be seen and acted on by practitioners than that published in more traditional research journals.
