Growth Mindset as a Predictor of Academic Resilience Among Graduate Students in Yogyakarta

Graduate students face complex academic demands that can easily lead to psychological stress, requiring strong academic resilience. This study aims to examine the role of a growth mindset as a predictor of academic resilience among graduate students in Yogyakarta. Using a quantitative approach with a predictive correlational design, data were collected via an online questionnaire from 101 master’s and doctoral students selected through purposive sampling. Simple linear regression analysis using JAMOVI showed that a growth mindset significantly and positively predicted academic resilience (F = 29.60; t = 5.44; p < 0.001), with an effective contribution of 23.0% (R² = 0.230). These findings underscore the importance of a growth mindset as an internal cognitive protective factor for individuals in coping with the pressures of graduate education. Higher education institutions, particularly graduate programs, are advised to design and implement growth mindset-based interventions such as academic mentoring programs, growth mindset training, and comprehensive academic counseling to strengthen students’ growth mindsets and enhance their academic resilience.
