Lecturers' Needs for Contextualized Arabic for Specific Purposes Materials for Biology Student at UIN Palangka Raya

Arabic language learning for Biology Education (Tadris Biologi) students needs a clearer link to their discipline and to their duties as future teachers. This study describes lecturers’ needs for contextualized Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) teaching materials at UIN Palangka Raya. It used a descriptive qualitative approach with a survey method. Three lecturers were purposively selected for their expertise in curriculum and instructional design, Biology education, and Arabic. Data were collected through a questionnaire combining rating scales and open-ended questions, and were analysed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The study produces a needs map as a basis for planning, organised around functional learning objectives, accurate biological terms and texts, and support for students with diverse initial abilities. Biology content also needs to be linked to Islamic sources and the local environment. Learning priorities focus on cursive Arabic script literacy, translation and speaking skills, and the accuracy of scientific terms

Arabic language learning for Biology Education (Tadris Biologi) students needs a clearer link to their discipline and to their duties as future teachers.
