Enuma Anu Enlil as a Rule-Based Inference System — E8 Intelligence Research
FINDING: The Enuma Anu Enlil (EAE) omen compendium is a structured conditional-logic database — a prototypical decision-tree / rule-based inference system encoded in cuneiform, not merely a collection of superstitions. | MATH: Schema is a set of conditionals of the form IF (celestial/lunar/solar state S_i at time t) THEN (terrestrial outcome O_j). Formally a mapping f: S → O over a finite state space, i.e. a lookup table / production-rule system. The canonical structure is 70 tablets (~7,000 omens), organized by source-sign: Tablet 1 = lunar eclipses, Tablets 2–22 = lunar phenomena, 23–29 = solar, 30–39 = weather/atmospheric, 40–49 = planetary, 50–70 = fixed stars. This is a hierarchical classification tree with ~70 top-level nodes. | CONNECTION: The organizing principle is base-60 sexagesimal indexing (the same system underlying Babylonian place-value arithmetic and the 360° circle = 6×60). The 70-tablet division and the 12/30/360 subdivisions reflect the sexagesimal lattice; the omen Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series.
