Obesity and Skin: A Review Focusing on Cell Signalling Proteins
Abstract Obesity is a heritable trait, influenced by environmental, genetic, and metabolic factors. It is a risk factor for a multitude of conditions like hypertension, type II diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, certain malignancies and dermatological conditions like psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, malignant melanoma, acne vulgaris, and many more. This review is an attempt to outline the signalling proteins behind the development of obesity and their pathogenetic and therapeutic implications in the field of dermatology.
