An Analysis of Lidcom under Subsidy Scheme in Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara Districts

Abstract The study titled “an analysis of LIDCOM under subsidy scheme in Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts” reviews the implementation and socio-economic impact of the ‘50% Subsidy Scheme’ administered by the Leather Industries Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (LIDCOM). The scheme aims to foster self-employment, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment among eligible beneficiaries by providing financial assistance for income-generating activities. Covering the period from 2014-15 to 2024-25, this study relies on secondary data collected from the selected districts. It evaluates various aspects, including the beneficiaries' socio-economic background, awareness of the scheme, utilization of the subsidy, employment generation, income growth, and overall improvements in their standard of living. The study reveals that the scheme has contributed positively to self-employment and economic development; however, there is a need for improvement in areas such as creating awareness, ensuring timely disbursement of financial assistance, coordinating with financial institutions, and implementing effective monitoring. The study concludes by offering practical recommendations to strengthen the scheme's implementation and enhance its effectiveness in improving the socio-economic status of beneficiaries in the Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara districts.
