Mortality trends and risk factors among tribal children in India
These scientific interpretations focused on highlighting the underlying risks with new-borns, particularly during the neonatal period, among the tribal population. The reason behind neonatal mortality rates among the tribal population has been higher than the national average since long. Majorly preterm birth, low birth weight, and infections are associated with neonatal mortality. Maternal anaemia, inadequate antenatal and perinatal risk are identified as prenatal risk factors, followed by poor socioeconomic status. Home child birth, preterm birth, low birth weight children, and neonatal infections contribute to the postnatal risk.
