Kajian Inkarnasional 1 Korintus 9:19-22 dan Implementasinya dalam Misi Lintas Budaya Masyarakat Melayu Ocu Pekanbaru

This study analyzes the incarnational strategy in 1 Corinthians 9:19-22 and its application to cross-cultural missions among the Ocu Malay community in Pekanbaru. Utilizing Walter C. Kaiser Jr.’s exegetical method and a qualitative approach (in-depth interviews and focus group discussions), this research identifies seven core incarnational principles, including becoming a servant to all, understanding local traditions, and serving under the law of Christ. Findings reveal that primary ministry challenges include a limited understanding of the matrilineal system, insufficient mastery of the Ocu language, and minimal relationships with ninik mamak. Five out of six informants struggled to comprehend the matrilineal system, and four informants still relied on Indonesian or Minang. This study emphasizes the importance of pre-deployment training with anthropological insights, a phased ministry approach, and partnerships with local institutions. Applying incarnational principles proves to enhance Gospel outreach effectiveness by respecting local wisdom without compromising Gospel integrity, providing a practical contribution to contextual mission strategies in Indonesia.
