EKSPLORASI ETNOMATEMATIKA PADA KEGIATAN DAN STRUKTUR BANGUNAN MASJID AGUNG MANUNGGAL BANTUL

Ethnomathematics is an approach that examines the relationship between mathematical concepts and cultural practices in social life. Mosques, as centers of religious and social activities, contain various mathematical values integrated into the building structure and the activities that take place within them. This study aims to examine the concept of ethnomathematics in the activities and structure of the Great Mosque of Manunggal Bantul. The focus of the research is an exploration of number and geometric patterns, including plane figures, spatial figures, congruence, similarity, and transformation (reflection). This study applies a descriptive qualitative method through an ethnographic approach. The data analysis stages involve data reduction, data presentation, and data interpretation. The findings of this study reveal that the concept of a two-dimensional shape is present in the mosque's entrance, while the concept of a three-dimensional cylindrical shape is evident in the form of the traditional drum. Meanwhile, the material of congruence, similarity, and transformation is visible in the shape of the mosque's ceiling, the mosque's ceiling ornaments, and the imam's place. Then, the number pattern is reflected in the regularity of the schedule of religious activities. The conclusion of this study reveals that the Manunggal Bantul Grand Mosque does not only function as a place of worship, but also as a source of contextual mathematics learning that is relevant to culture.
