From Theory to Evaluation: Deriving the Transcultural Nurse-AI Synergy Model for Systematic Assessment of AI Outputs
INTRODUCTION: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into nursing education, research, and practice, raising concerns about cultural relevance, ethical integrity, and preservation of human-centered care. To address these challenges, the Transcultural Nurse-Artificial Intelligence (TCN-AI) Synergy Model was developed. METHODS: Using Walker and Avant's theory derivation method, the model was derived from the Translation Validity Index. Core concepts were identified, redefined, and extended to explain the interaction between AI-generated outputs and transcultural nursing expertise. RESULTS: The model conceptualizes this interaction as an iterative process of appraisal, contextualization, and refinement. Also, the accompanying AI Output Evaluation Rubric was developed to systematically assess AI-generated content for cultural relevance, conceptual validity, ethical integrity, and clinical relevance across nursing education, research, and practice. DISCUSSION: The TCN-AI Synergy Model advances transcultural nursing theory, education, research, and practice by providing a practical framework for critically evaluating AI-generated outputs. The accompanying rubric potentially enables efficient, systematic assessment while supporting informed decision-making in academic, research, and clinical settings.
