Economic Sustainability as a Factor of Resilience of Economic Systems in the Crisis-Digital Paradigm of Sustainable Development Management

Purpose: To examine the relationship between economic sustainability, innovation, and sustainable development as key determinants of the resilience of modern economic systems and identify strategic approaches for strengthening resilience through digital transformation. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study employed a qualitative research design based on a systematic review of scientific literature, comparative analysis, and conceptual synthesis. The review covered 31 studies (2020–2026) retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus, supplemented by Google Scholar, and identified the principal mechanisms that enhance the adaptability and long-term stability of economic systems. Research Limitation: The study is conceptual and based on secondary sources. Future research should validate the proposed framework using empirical evidence from different sectors. Findings: The results show that economic sustainability is closely linked to integrating technological and digital innovations into production and management processes. Structural adaptability, system integration, stakeholder participation, human capital development, and effective resource management were identified as key prerequisites for sustainable growth and resilience. Automation, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence improve business processes, increase operational efficiency, and support sustainable development by integrating economic, environmental, and social objectives. Practical Implication: The findings guide policymakers and business leaders in designing innovation-driven strategies that enhance economic resilience. Social Implication: Strengthening economic sustainability promotes long-term stability, social well-being, environmental responsibility, and resilience. Originality/Value: The study integrates the established constructs of economic sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and resilience into one framework; what is new is the crisis-digital paradigm, which treats digital tools as a system-forming element of resilience management.
