The Level of Compassionate Communication among Newly Married in Jerusalem and Bethlehem Districts in Light of Marriage Duration and Employment

The study aimed to examine the level of compassionate communication among newly married in Jerusalem and Bethlehem districts, in light of the variables of marriage duration and employment. The research employed the Descriptive analytical methodology, using the Compassionate Communication Scale to collect data, with a random sample of 375 newly married. The validity, reliability, and contextual suitability of the research instruments within the Palestinian environment were verified. The findings revealed that the level of compassionate communication among the sample was high, with a mean of 4.02. Significant differences were found in the domains of compassionate message, compassionate speech, and compassionate touch related to the variable of current marriage duration (less than one year). In addition, no statistically significant differences were found at the level of (α ≥ 0.05) on the overall scale of compassionate communication and its domains that could be attributed to the employment variable. The study recommended emphasizing the importance of compassionate communication—represented in supportive speech, affectionate touch, and healthcare attention—particularly among newly married, to ensure marital stability and harmony. Furthermore, it stressed the necessity for cooperation among all relevant governmental and civil institutions to raise youth awareness of the importance of positive communication and to ensure the availability of counseling programs aimed at enhancing the level of compassionate communication within the institution of marriage.
