Accessibility Support and Understanding of Disability Towards GEDSI-Based Inclusive Education at State University of Jakarta
This study was motivated by the commitment of Universitas Negeri Jakarta to supporting inclusive education through the admission of students with disabilities. The study aimed to analyze the academic community's level of understanding regarding Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and the accessibility of facilities within the Faculty of Engineering. The research subjects included members of the academic community and the accessibility facilities in Tower A. A descriptive quantitative survey with a qualitative approach was employed through observations, interviews, and the analysis of accessibility standards documents. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents demonstrated a high to very high level of understanding of GEDSI principles, with the very high category recorded for gender equality (57%), disability (58%), and social inclusion (56.5%). The facility assessment showed that assembly points (100%), lifts (90.91%), and evacuation facilities (87.5%) complied with most accessibility standards, whereas prayer rooms (50%), practical training rooms (55%), and classrooms (37.5%) still require further improvement. The study recommends optimizing accessibility facilities, strengthening the implementation of GEDSI principles, and enhancing the capacity of facility managers to support the delivery of inclusive higher education.
