D3.2 - Draft preferred scenarios and visions of democracy in the European Union 2040

Youth Decide 2040 is a three-year Horizon Europe project (January 2025–December 2027) that engages young people in co-creating desirable, resilient futures for European democracy. Bringing together 11 partners from research, academia, creative industry, and youth organisations, the project seeks to inform democratic policies and practices that reflect intergenerational expectations about the future of European democracy. Its central WP3 activity involved 19 national assembly workshops across Europe, which generated 85 youth-developed scenarios of preferred futures of democratic systems. This deliverable synthesises these diverse scenarios into “scenario archetypes” – generic descriptions of divergent preferred futures that were articulated during the national workshops. Based on recurring ideas, designs, and intentions observed across the co-created preferred futures.
