DEVELOPMENT AND EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF AN ULTRA-THIN ASPHALT MIXTURE INCORPORATING A LOCAL BASALT FIBER–RECYCLED POLYETHYLENE COMPOSITE ADDITIVE

The development of durable and resource-efficient pavement preservation materials is an important challenge in regions exposed to high summer temperatures, substantial temperature fluctuations, and intensive traffic loading. This study investigates an ultra-thin asphalt concrete mixture designated UTA-8, incorporating a locally developed polymer composite additive composed of polyurethane-coated modified basalt fiber and recycled polyethylene (rPE). The principal objective is to evaluate the laboratory performance and practical applicability of this hybrid additive in an ultra-thin asphalt wearing course intended for pavement maintenance under the climatic and traffic conditions of Uzbekistan.
