The paper proposes an improved approach for selecting irrigation methods by jointly assessing relief, reclamation conditions, soil and hydrophysical properties, agroclimatic conditions, and water source and quality. The final suitability class is determined by the most limiting factor. Separating current and potential suitability and using GIS zoning makes it possible to select irrigation technologies that better match local conditions.
