EXPRESSION OF CONCERN : Simultaneous neutralization of TGF ‐β and IL ‐6 attenuates Staphylococcus aureus ‐induced arthritic inflammation through differential modulation of splenic and synovial macrophages

EXPRESSION OF CONCERN: R. Ghosh, R. Dey, R. Sawoo, and B. Bishayi, "Simultaneous neutralization of TGF-β and IL-6 attenuates Staphylococcus aureus-induced arthritic inflammation through differential modulation of splenic and synovial macrophages," Scandinavian Journal of Immunology 97, no. 6 (2023): e13252, https://doi.org/10.1111/sji.13252. This Expression of Concern is for the above article, published online on 03 January 2023 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), and has been issued by agreement of John Wiley & Sons Ltd. The Expression of Concern has been agreed following an investigation which identified western blot images in Figure 8 with an atypical background appearance. The authors were invited to comment on the concerns and to provide their original data. Although the authors cooperated with the investigation, discrepancies were identified between the original data and the panels published in Figure 8 such that it is not possible to conclusively verify the identity and labelling of some of the published panels. As the conclusions are not believed to be affected, the publisher has decided to issue an Expression of Concern to inform and alert readers.
