ORGANIZATIONAL FORMS REFORM OF SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN CHINA IN THE 1990s
The 1990s became a key stage in the institutional development of basic education in China. This article analyzes the organizational forms of school physical education in China in the 1990s. The research sources included the physical education curriculum within the nine-year compulsory education system, as well as theoretical-pedagogical and methodological works of Chinese scholars from that period. Using a systematic approach, the historical-structural method, and a method of analyzing diverse sources, four tasks were identified: 1) forming a value-based attitude towards physical education and one's own health; 2) developing motor skills; 3) developing physical qualities; 4) control and assessment. Organizational forms were divided into classroom-based (two types) and extracurricular (sports clubs, competitions, independent activities). The 1990s were an important stage in the reform of school physical education in China. The foundations were laid for the subsequent transition to the concept of «physical culture and health».
