Readiness for Artificial Intelligence–Enabled Clinical Decision Support Systems Among Primary Care Physicians in Gujarat, India: A Cross-Sectional Study

This research poster presents findings from a cross-sectional survey examining physicians’ experience of, perceptions about, and readiness for artificial intelligence-enabled clinical decision support systems (AI-CDSS) in primary healthcare in Gujarat, India. The study included 153 physicians and used a survey instrument comprising 29 variables covering professional characteristics, prior exposure to artificial intelligence, perceived benefits, implementation concerns, and readiness-related attitudes. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages, were used to summarise responses. Key findings included 90.8% willingness to use AI-CDSS, 85.6% willingness to undertake AI training, and 49.7% reporting previous use of AI tools. Respondents also identified safety and ethical concerns as important considerations for implementation. The findings highlight the importance of clinician training, appropriate infrastructure, patient safety, ethical governance, and responsible implementation when introducing AI-enabled clinical decision support into primary healthcare.
