Hubungan Dukungan Keluarga dengan Tingkat Kepatuhan Pengobatan Pasien Diabetes Mellitus di Pelayanan Kesehatan Primer

Diabetes mellitus is a condition characterized by blood glucose levels that exceed the normal range. The normal range for fasting blood glucose is 70–100 mg/dL, while random blood glucose should be <200 mg/dL, and blood glucose two hours after a meal should be <180 mg/dL. If left untreated, diabetes mellitus can lead to complications such as blurred vision, heart disease, kidney issues, and disorders affecting the skin and nerves. Family support is very much needed by Diabetes Mellitus patients in undergoing their treatment to prevent patients from experiencing complications due to non-compliance with their treatment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between family support and the level of treatment adherence among patients with Diabetes Mellitus who receive regular care at the Cimahi Tengah Community Health Center. The design used in this study is quantitative descriptive, employing a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consists of 80 respondents undergoing routine treatment for Diabetes Mellitus at the Cimahi Tengah Community Health Center, selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using the HDFSS questionnaire to measure family support and the MGL MAQ to assess medication adherence among patients with Diabetes Mellitus. The study results yielded a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.090 with a significance value greater than 0.05, indicating a weak relationship. Family support had no effect on the level of medication adherence in diabetes mellitus patients. Therefore, education and supervision from healthcare providers are needed to encourage patient independence in adherence to diabetes mellitus medication.
