Tren Penelitian Kontrol Glikemik Pada Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2: Analisis Bibliometrik

ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) continues to rise globally, necessitating effective management and sustained glycemic control. To map publication trends, country contributions, citation impact, and thematic foci of T2DM research related to glycemic control. This Scopus-based bibliometric study (22 December 2025) employed the TITLE-ABS-KEY search query “diabetes mellitus type II” AND “glycemic control”, restricted to 2015–2025, Medicine/Nursing subject areas, article document type, and English language. The selection process followed PRISMA: 2,856 records were identified and 920 articles met the eligibility criteria for analysis. Country- and year-based mapping was conducted using Scopus and visualized with Mapchart, while keyword co-occurrence mapping was performed using VOS-viewer. Publication output peaked in 2021 (121 articles). The leading contributors were the United States (188), India (115), China (82), and the United Kingdom (61). VOS-viewer identified six clusters, with dominant keywords including type 2 diabetes, glycemic control, HbA1c, and diabetes mellitus. The research frontier has increasingly emphasized self-management practice, education, self-efficacy, and glucose monitoring technologies (flash glucose monitoring). The obesity-prediabetes cluster was strongly associated with HbA1c and insulin or insulin resistance, while metformin and insulin remained central therapeutic interventions. T2DM research is increasingly oriented toward glycemic control, patient education, and technology-enabled self-management, underscoring its relevance for strengthening prevention and patient-centered care across primary care, community settings, and digital health ecosystems.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) continues to rise globally, necessitating effective management and sustained glycemic control. To map publication trends, country contributions, citation impact, and thematic foci of T2DM research related to glycemic control. This Scopus-based bibliometric study (22 December 2025) employed the TITLE-ABS-KEY search query “diabetes mellitus type II” AND “glycemic control”, restricted to 2015–2025, Medicine/Nursing subject areas, article document type, and English language. The selection process followed PRISMA: 2,856 records were identified and 920 articles met the eligibility criteria for analysis. Publication output peaked in 2021 (121 articles). The leading contributors were the United States (188), India (115), China (82), and the United Kingdom (61). VOS-viewer identified six clusters, with dominant keywords including type 2 diabetes, glycemic control, HbA1c, and diabetes mellitus. The research frontier has increasingly emphasized self-management practice, education, self-efficacy, and glucose monitoring technologies (flash glucose monitoring).
