Effects of Climate Change and Historical Perspective of Clean Development Mechanism

Abstract: In Present Paper Analyze Effects of Climate Change and Historical Perspective Of Clean Development Mechanism. Climate change is one of the major environmental challenges affecting natural ecosystems, economies and human livelihoods. This study examines climate change policies and the role of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in India within the broader national and international framework. It reviews the evolution of international climate policies, the development and functioning of CDM, and its implementation in India. The study highlights the contribution of CDM projects, particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management and cleaner technologies. However, several challenges are identified, including declining Certified Emission Reduction (CER) prices, high transaction and registration costs, lengthy project procedures, regional disparities, concerns regarding validation and certification, and limited participation of small-scale industries and local stakeholders. The study emphasizes the need for capacity building, greater transparency, wider participation and improved policy mechanisms to strengthen climate change mitigation and sustainable development in India.
