Hope as Being Born of God: The Movement of Hope in Meister Eckhart

This article examines Meister Eckhart’s notion of hope based on his texts, both in Latin and in Middle High German. After compiling the references in which Eckhart mentions the word ‘hope’ (spe, hoffenunge) and its derivatives, a systematisation of his thinking on hope, the hope of birth, as a movement to become children of God is offered.
