Análisis de los sistemas de producción agropecuarios en el cantón Taisha, provincia de Morona Santiago

The Taisha canton, located in the province of Morona Santiago, Ecuador, presents a diversity of agricultural production systems influenced by its mountainous geography and humid climate; The local economy depends largely on agriculture and livestock, with crops such as Musa x paradisiaca (banana), Manihot esculenta (cassava), Zea mays (corn), Theobroma cacao L. (cocoa) and Coffea arabica L. (coffee), in addition to the breeding of cattle, pigs and poultry. The objective of this study was to carry out an analysis of the agricultural production systems in the Taisha canton, province of Morona Santiago. The methodology used was based on a mixed approach, it was applied with a non-experimental design, for data collection a semi-structured interview was carried out with agricultural producers in the Taisha canton, and the data processing was carried out in Excel. The results obtained indicate that in the Taisha canton the main economic activities are agriculture and livestock, while the main products grown are cassava and banana, generally for self-consumption, while the most predominant breeds of livestock are the mestizo and charolasis; The challenges that affect production are generally climatic and the effects of pests on both livestock and crops; however, agricultural activity generates sufficient economic income to survive. In conclusion, the growth of agricultural production in Taisha Canton offers significant opportunities to improve food security, boost economic development and reduce poverty.
