AUDIODESCRIÇÃO ENQUANTO MODALIDADE TRADUTÓRIA: PRODUÇÃO DE AD PARA O LIVRO SUPER VALENTE

This article aims to present the production process of the audio description for the introductory note and the cover of the children's book Super Valente, written by Alda Soares and illustrated by Mariana Ribeiro in 2022. The purpose is to discuss the audiodescription process as a form of audiovisual translation and a tool for literary accessibility considering the experience carried out in a research project at the State University of Maringá. Methodologically, this article focuses on describing and analyzing the collective translation process, conducted through discussion of the source text, collaborative script production, review meetings, and dialogue with the book author, taking into account the critical studies of disability and accessibility as well as studies of translation and audio description. The results show that translation choices were made collectively and involved lexical adaptations, interpretative widening and the contextualization of visual, cultural and geographical elements present in the book. The audio description also widens opportunities for access and meaning-making in literary reading, contributing to a more inclusive experience, especially for children who are blind or have low vision.
