Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia Dalam Interaksi Sehari Hari Siswa

The Indonesian language plays a crucial role as a tool for communication in students' daily lives—whether at school, within the family, in interactions with peers, or on social media. Over time, the way students use Indonesian has evolved, influenced by their social environment, regional languages, slang, foreign languages, and the development of digital media. This study aims to describe how students use the Indonesian language in their daily interactions, the various forms of language variation employed, the factors influencing this usage, and the implications for students' language proficiency. A qualitative descriptive approach was adopted, utilizing a literature review method. Data were gathered from various journal articles and official sources relevant to the use of Indonesian among students and adolescents. The findings indicate that students employ Indonesian in diverse forms—ranging from formal to informal registers, including slang, abbreviations, and a blend of regional and foreign languages. Such usage is heavily influenced by the communication context and the individuals involved in the conversation. Social media, in particular, serves as a space that accelerates the spread of vocabulary and informal language varieties. Consequently, it is essential to foster the habit of using Indonesian appropriately according to the context, enabling students to distinguish between formal and informal language use without stifling their linguistic creativity.
