Efficient Degradation and Recycling of Waste Formaldehyde Polymers to Value‐Added Diindolylmethane Compounds

ABSTRACT The effective degradation of formaldehyde polymers catalyzed by Y(OTf) 3 with indole derivatives in water has been achieved, yielding a series of diindolylmethane compounds with added value. It provides a new route with additional potential for the upcycling of waste paraformaldehyde and polyoxymethylene plastic as a green alternative C1 synthon.
