ச. தமழசசலவ நவலகளல கடமப வறமயம சதயப பகபடம: Family Poverty and Caste Discrimination in the Novels of S. Tamilselvi
This paper examines how family poverty and caste discrimination are represented in S. Tamilselvi's novels Alam, Geethari and Kannagi. It reads poverty through food, clothing and shelter, and caste discrimination through the control of resources, access to water and streets, and everyday untouchability. The study finds that in these novels the family is shown as part of the economic and caste structures of society, not as an isolated unit.
