EXPLORING THE CONTRIBUTION OF POWERPOINT LEARNING MEDIA TO STUDENTS’ LEARNING INTEREST IN ECONOMICS EDUCATION
Students’ learning interest is a crucial factor influencing the effectiveness of Economics learning. However, conventional instructional practices often result in low student engagement and limited participation during classroom activities. The increasing integration of educational technology requires teachers to utilize learning media that can enhance students’ attention, participation, and interest in learning. This study aims to analyze the implementation of PowerPoint learning media and its contribution to students’ learning interest in Economics learning among Grade X students at SMK Raudlatul Ulum Ledokombo Jember. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PowerPoint was systematically implemented through structured learning presentations supported by visual elements such as images, diagrams, and illustrations. Its use created a more organized and interactive learning environment. Students demonstrated increased attention, enthusiasm, participation, and engagement during learning activities. They were more active in discussions, more willing to ask and answer questions, and showed greater interest in Economics learning materials. PowerPoint learning media contributes positively to the creation of interactive learning environments and strengthens students’ learning interest. This study highlights the role of PowerPoint not only as a presentation tool but also as a pedagogical medium that supports student engagement in vocational Economics education.
