The Artistic-Functional Expression of The Moon Symbol in The Works of Usmon Nosir
The article examines the artistic and functional expression of the moon image in the works of Usmon Nosir (1912–1944). The material comprises the collection “Ertani sevinib kut!..” (2021) and the second volume of his “Selected Works” (1970). About 69 uses of the word oy (moon) and its forms were identified. The study shows that the moon image performs five main functions: landscape-compositional, portrait-aesthetic, psychological, symbolic-philosophical and dialogic. While keeping the classical canon of “moon-faced” beauty, the poet turns the moon into a companion of the lyrical hero, a symbol of hope and endurance, and an active participant in the plot.
