STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE GLOBAL ENERGY SECTOR: ANALYSIS OF INTERNATIONAL TRENDS IN NUCLEAR ENERGY IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL DECARBONISATION
The paper considers the transformation of the energy sector in the context of general decarbonisation and the prospects for the use of nuclear energy to achieve global climate goals. The nuclear renaissance is considered as a process of renewed interest in nuclear energy. The strategies of the EU and leading countries of the world regarding the use of nuclear energy are examined. The problem of cost overruns, which often arises in the construction of new nuclear reactors, is investigated. Small modular reactors are considered as an alternative to large traditional reactors. The model of nuclear-industrial clusters as an element of decarbonisation is examined, and a cluster model around a small modular reactor is proposed. The role of nuclear energy in achieving Net Zero objectives and the risks associated with the widespread use of nuclear reactors are described.
