Estágio supervisionado de estomaterapia em um hospital pediátrico de referência da capital: um relato de experiência

This study aims to report the experience of nurses in training in the stomatherapy specialization during a supervised internship at a reference pediatric hospital in the capital. It seeks to describe the care, educational, and decision-making activities experienced, as well as to reflect on the contributions of this practical immersion to professional development and the qualification of the care provided. This is an experience report with a qualitative approach and descriptive character, based on participant observation and the practical experience of graduate nurses during a supervised internship in the stomatherapy specialization. The internship was carried out at a reference pediatric hospital in the capital, covering care for children with ostomies, wounds, and skin lesions, in addition to educational activities with patients, family members, and the multidisciplinary team. The experience allowed for the development of technical and scientific competencies, such as wound assessment and treatment, ostomy management, complication prevention, and clinical decision-making. It also highlighted the importance of communication, welcoming, and humanization in pediatric care. The results indicate that the supervised internship contributed significantly to specialized training, expanding autonomy, clinical reasoning, and confidence in practice. It is concluded that the experience was essential for professional development and for the qualification of nursing care in pediatric stomatherapy, reinforcing the relevance of the articulation between theory and practice in the training of the specialist.
