dataset attaugwu uvere ugwu leaves
This dataset contains the dietary fibre and prebiotic oligosaccharide data for four Nigerian plant materials used in postpartum diets: uziza leaves (Piper guineense), utazi leaves (Gongronema latifolium), roselle calyx (Hibiscus sabdariffa) and Aju Mbaise (Chromolaena odorata). Each material was analysed fresh and after drying at 50 °C for 48 h. It includes moisture loss and drying yield (n = 3), and soluble, insoluble and total dietary fibre (AOAC 991.43), fructo-oligosaccharides and galacto-oligosaccharides (HPAE-PAD) for the eight sample groups on a dry weight basis, as duplicate replicate values with means, standard deviations and Tukey HSD groupings. It also gives the change in each parameter on drying. Files are provided as an Excel workbook and CSV files with a README describing methods, units (g/100 g) and sample codes.
