Smarca2 functions through control of the Sox homeobox transcription factors.
A precise mechanism of action for the BAF chromatin modification complex components in transformation remains incompletely defined. We demonstrate here by the use of RNA-sequencing for measurement of total transcription in cell lines with engineered deletion in Smarca2 control of the Sox homeobox transcription factor. Cells lacking Smarca2 were deficient in expression of all Sox homeobox factors save for Sox5 and Sox12. Smarca2 likely coordinates the nuclear function and occupancy of Sox factors during transformation in some or all settings.
