Electroenzymatic Sequential Catalysis for Enantiodivergent Synthesis of Halohydrins

Abstract Chiral halohydrins are valuable synthetic intermediates. Herein, we report an electroenzymatic sequential catalysis strategy for the site-selective and enantiocomplementary C–H hydroxylation of functionalized alkylarenes, enabling facile access to chiral halohydrins, methyl mandelate, and β-nitro alcohol under mild conditions with favorable yields and excellent enantioselectivity. The system also enables β-chlorohydrin deracemization, broadening the synthetic scope of enantiopure functionalized benzyl alcohols and offering a practical alternative to conventional methods.
