Making a rural living: Three anthropological lenses for contemporary debate, from Latin America
How does one make a rural living in a besieged land? What are these lives and what drives make them possible? This essay seeks to highlight the potential of anthropological lenses to enrich the understanding and debate surrounding the forces that shape, dismantle, and reshape the rural of the world we inhabit today. To this end, we bring together contemporary ethnographic studies from Latin America and weave them around a common question: how diverse populations creatively devise, day after day, the means to make a rural living within challenging scenarios of the Global South.
