Youth in the Labor Market: Forms of Support and Behavioral Strategies in an International Perspective

The article examines forms of support for youth in the labor market. Based on an analysis of the results of the second wave of an international sociological study conducted by a group of sociologists at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University in June–July 2026, the study aims to identify key international trends in the professional and career trajectories of young people in different countries; it assesses young people’s awareness of existing state and public support measures for employment, determines the effectiveness and efficiency of existing mechanisms and forms of promoting youth employment, and examines the degree of influence of various factors on young people’s entry into the labor market. The authors note that in current conditions, investments in youth in the form of support and guidance throughout their professional and career development can create a synergistic effect for successfully providing personnel for economic sectors in different countries. The value and novelty of the study lie in the fact that the authors provide a detailed interpretation of the results of the second wave of an international sociological study, within which, on new empirical material, international trends are identified and systematized in young people’s assessments of the labor market, their awareness of state and public support measures, and their preferences regarding forms of employment assistance. The scientific and practical significance is due to identifying the specifics and content of young people’s demands in the sphere of employment and professional fulfillment, and assessing the effectiveness of existing mechanisms and forms of support in the labor market, on the basis of which the authors substantiate the need to improve support for young people throughout their professional development, optimize information work with young people, develop internships, career centers, and partnerships between educational organizations and employers. The results of the study can be used by state authorities, educational organizations, HR services, and civil society institutions in developing and adjusting measures to promote youth employment.
