Compression Stockings as Core Therapy for Symptomatic Orthostatic Hypertension in an Older Male: A Case Report
An 85-year-old man with poorly controlled hypertension, Type 2 diabetes mellitus (> 20 years), and coronary artery disease (> 10 years) had not received regular pharmacotherapy. He was admitted after a sudden episode of severe dizziness while seated, which caused a backward fall. After admission, an extensive supine evaluation was conducted, including physical examination, laboratory tests (electrolytes, renal function, cardiac biomarkers, BNP, supine adrenal function), imaging studies (brain MRI, cervical MRA), cardiac and renal artery ultrasonography, electrocardiography, and 24-h ambulatory ECG.No significant abnormalities were identified.
