Knowledge Acquisition Methods and Conceptual Mastery Outcomes in Private Institutions of Learning in Uganda

For one to achieve meaningful learning, Knowledge acquisition is a very crucial factor that should never be undermined, however, we should also note that the learner's possession of information does not necessarily mean that he understands all the concepts or is able to apply them in unfamiliar situations. This narrative literature review examines how knowledge acquisition methods may shape conceptual mastery in private institutions of learning in Uganda. It examines and brings together the conceptual and theoretical perspectives represented in the literature cited by different authors, including constructivist learning, deep approaches to learning, critical thinking, collaborative learning, inquiry-based learning, experiential learning, formative assessment, and technology-supported instruction. The review also looks at the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence and digital knowledge-management tools. The reviewed literature consistently argues that conceptual mastery occurs when learners actively connect new material with prior knowledge, explain ideas, investigate problems, receive feedback, reflect on their learning, and transfer knowledge to authentic tasks. Lectures and other educators can provide all the necessary explanations and provide foundational knowledge, but they may not support mastery when they are used as the only instructional method or when majorly paired with recall-based examinations. In Uganda, implementation is shaped by teacher
