Re-Embedding Of Agricultural Activity And Transformations In Modes Of Regulation: Theoretical Approaches And The Role Of Rural Organizations

This article examines the relationship between the re-embedding of agricultural activity and transformations in modes of regulation, with particular emphasis on the role of rural organizations. Drawing on a review of recent literature, it explores the conditions under which collective action can contribute to redefining the rules governing agricultural activities. The studies reviewed indicate that resource pooling, mutual assistance, collective learning, and territorial cooperation can strengthen farmers’ capacity to act without necessarily increasing their participation in decision-making processes. In other words, the article highlights that changes occurring within organizations do not systematically lead to a reconfiguration of territorial dynamics. Such transformations remain contingent upon interactions among stakeholders, collective negotiation processes, established forms of coordination, and the institutional recognition of the initiatives undertaken.
