Stop Selling Products. Start Understanding People: Shifting Frontline Operations from Product Explanation to AI-Augmented Needs Diagnosis
Abstract: This short communication establishes an operational framework shifting corporate sales and service paradigms from traditional feature-centric presentation to systematic, AI-augmented customer needs diagnosis. Drawing from foundational customer orientation theories, the paper models a five-stage architecture—Listen, Diagnose, Personalise, Resolve, and Learn—engineered to systematically isolate underlying behavioral motivations. The framework is contextualized within the Saudi Arabian telecommunications ecosystem, demonstrating an optimized enterprise application modeled around high-value subscriber retention dynamics at stc (Saudi Telecommunications Company) under the service excellence mandates of Saudi Vision 2030. Furthermore, we outline an advanced technological integration path utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs), real-time Natural Language Processing (NLP) token-streaming, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to scale frontline human empathy while adhering strictly to the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). The manuscript concludes with rigorous future research protocols specifying randomized A/B field trials (N = 10,000) and longitudinal Cox Proportional Hazards regression to empirically validate the impact of diagnostic interventions against standard price-discounting controls.
