Tourism Facilities, Price, Cultural Performances, and Service Quality as Determinants of Visitor Satisfaction: Evidence from Balekambang Heritage Park Indonesia

The increasing number of visits to tourist destinations does not necessarily translate into higher visitor satisfaction. Previous studies have primarily examined the effects of tourist facilities, prices, and service quality, while the role of cultural performances in shaping visitor satisfaction remains relatively underexplored, particularly in public-space and cultural heritage destinations. This study examines the effects of tourist facilities, prices, cultural performances, and service quality on visitor satisfaction at Balekambang Park, Surakarta. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 82 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results indicate that tourist facilities, prices, and service quality have positive and statistically significant effects on visitor satisfaction, whereas cultural performances have a negative and statistically significant effect. Furthermore, the four independent variables jointly have a statistically significant effect on visitor satisfaction. The negative coefficient for cultural performances indicates an inverse relationship with visitor satisfaction within the estimated model; however, the finding does not establish why this relationship occurs. It suggests the need for further investigation into visitors’ perceptions and expectations of cultural performances, including their relevance, presentation, and integration into the overall tourism experience. This study contributes to tourism destination management literature by incorporating cultural performances alongside conventional service-related determinants of visitor satisfaction. The findings provide a basis for destination managers to evaluate cultural programming in relation to visitor expectations while maintaining attention to facilities, pricing, and service quality.
