Deliverable No 4.3 Circularity and LCA Framework - v01
This deliverable presents the first version of the Circularity and Life Cycle Assessment framework developed in WP4 for CIRCMAN5.0 and defines how environmental impact assessment and circularity evaluation are combined to support consistent decision making across photovoltaic product value chains. It describes the requirements, data needs, and interoperability principles for the Environmental Impact Assessment toolbox and clarifies how the WP4 modules exchange information with the Cognitive Digital Twin environment and other project services. The document reports the baseline approach of Task 4.1, where cradle to grave LCA models are built using primary data collected from the pilots through tailored inventory questionnaires and background datasets from recognised databases, with a focus on Global Warming Potential and Cumulative Energy Demand and with results used as the reference benchmark for later comparisons. It then outlines the Task 4.2 routing optimisation service, which generates route specific logistics parameters and emission estimates for inbound materials, outbound products, and end of life collection, enabling transport impacts to be assessed with scenario dependent data rather than static assumptions. The core of the deliverable is the Task 4.4 framework implemented in the GRETA web based platform, where product systems can be represented through process models or bill of materials structures, imported and parameterised, and analysed through interactive scenario creation, hotspot exploration, and comparison views. The framework extends environmental assessment with circularity indicators, including Material Circularity Indicator, Value Capture, and Circular Product Potential aligned with ISO 59040 principles, and it supports benchmarking through reference thresholds. It also introduces project specific extensions such as model import from commercial tools, dataspace connectivity for supplier material options, and compliance checking aligned with EN 15804 plus A2 and relevant PCR structures. The deliverable closes by defining next steps focused on completing pilot baselines, operationalising routing as a reusable service, and finalising and validating the planned WP4 modules for integration and pilot deployment.
