WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT: IMPLICATIONS FOR TEAM EFFECTIVENESS AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE

The growing complexity of contemporary projects has increased demand for leadership that combines technical competence, strategic judgment, stakeholder engagement, and effective teamwork. Project success is no longer assessed exclusively through time, cost, and scope; it also depends on benefits realization, adaptability, quality, and the capacity to maintain productive relationships. Against this background, women’s participation in project leadership is both a question of equitable professional opportunity and a relevant subject for organizational performance research. However, the available evidence does not support a simplistic assumption that one gender is inherently more effective at leading projects.

Abstract

The growing complexity of contemporary projects has increased demand for leadership that combines technical competence, strategic judgment, stakeholder engagement, and effective teamwork. Project success is no longer assessed exclusively through time, cost, and scope; it also depends on benefits realization, adaptability, quality, and the capacity to maintain productive relationships. Against this background, women’s participation in project leadership is both a question of equitable professional opportunity and a relevant subject for organizational performance research. However, the available evidence does not support a simplistic assumption that one gender is inherently more effective at leading projects.
