O Método Schroth e seus desfechos em qualidade de vida e funcionalidade em adolescentes com Escoliose Idiopática: uma revisão de escopo da literatura recente (2021-2026)
Introduction: Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) is a three-dimensional structural spinal deformity, with well-documented biomechanical consequences but comparatively underexplored psychosocial and functional dimensions. Objectives: To map the extent, range, and nature of recent scientific evidence on the psychological and functional outcomes associated with the Schroth Method in adolescents with AIS. Materials and Methods: Scoping review conducted according to the PRISMA-ScR guidelines and structured using the PCC strategy (Population, Concept, Context). Searches were performed in PubMed, PEDro, and the Cochrane Library between 2021 and 2026, considering randomized controlled trials, controlled clinical trials, and systematic reviews with meta-analysis. Results: Of 75 initially identified articles, 15 studies met the eligibility criteria, totaling 343 adolescents in primary studies and more than 3,500 patients in meta-analyses. The mapping identified four main outcome categories addressed in the literature: reduction of the Cobb angle and curve stabilization; improvement in trunk rotation and body aesthetics; synergy between the Schroth Method and core training; and outcomes related to quality of life and psychosocial aspects, including SRS-22 scores, self-image, and sensorimotor control. Conclusion: The mapped evidence suggests that the Schroth Method is associated with multidimensional gains in adolescents with AIS, spanning structural correction, respiratory function, and psychosocial well-being. However, the methodological heterogeneity identified points to the need for systematic reviews with meta-analysis focused specifically on functional and quality-of-life outcomes.
