Spatially resolved multiphase gas kinematics and excitation within the CARS sample
Active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback, often traced by jets and outflows, can regulate star formation by redistributing or removing cold gas. In this work, we present a multiwavelength, spatially resolved analysis of three nearby (z ~ 0.05) type 1 AGNs from the Close AGN Reference Survey (CARS): HE0119-0118, HE0232-0900 and HE2302-0857. We combine optical and near-infrared integral-field spectroscopy from VLT/MUSE (Wide and Narrow Field Modes) and GEMINI/NIFS with ALMA observations of CO(1–0) molecular line emission. Our preliminary results show that the narrow-line region gas kinematics are well described by two main components, associated with the galactic disk and AGN-driven outflows. The outflowing gas exhibits large velocity widths traced by [OIII]λ5007 emission, with median W80 values exceeding 500 km/s within the central ~ 5 kpc, indicating that AGN feedback plays an important role in shaping the gas kinematics. At least for HE2302-0857, we further find that the ionized outflow phase is oriented approximately perpendicular to the cold molecular gas morphology, pointing to a complex multiphase outflow geometry and distinct coupling with the interstellar medium. Spiral-like structures of ionized and molecular gas are observed in the nuclear kiloparsec, traced by narrow-line flux distributions in both the optical and near-infrared, suggesting gas inflow toward the central engine.
